Canon 5D New Screens

New Production Model Screens for the Canon 5D

New Canon 5D cameras are currently in stock and may be ordered
with choice of new screens pre-installed at no additional charge.

Our latest tests have indicated that some 5D and some 1D series Canon cameras perform more accurate focusing by installing a new shim (spacer) to apply tension to help hold the focusing screen in the proper position. This has been found to be true with both our replacement screens and some original factory screens. While our new shim spacers may not be necessary in most cameras, they may still be used in these camera models to help assure the secure flat and proper positioning and tension of all screens.

A second new shim has been produced now and will be included in all future screen orders. New shims will also be forwarded by or before 02/15/06, or sooner to all consumers who have found and reported issues for Canon 5D and 1D series.

This variable need for shimming some camera screens appears to be a direct result of tension variables and manufacturing designs in the Canon screen carriers, and or assemblies that apply the upward pressure for properly positioning the screens. Our new shims are being designed to be installed in the camera screen tray / carrier underneath the screen for 1D series camera. The new 5D camera shim must be installed above the screen and either may be removed or installed very easily and do not have any adhesives.

All users are reminded to readjust the diopter after installation.
